The League to Save Lake Tahoe is dedicated to protecting the environmental quality, scenic beauty, and low-impact recreational opportunities of the Lake Tahoe Basin.  We have three primary program areas – Advocacy and Monitoring, Legislative Advocacy, and Education and Outreach – and we are currently working on a number of campaigns and projects.  Click on the navigation buttons above to learn about our program areas or click on the links to the right to learn about the League’s current priorities.

CURRENT PRIORITIES

Decision Time for Shorezone!
In August, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) will vote on a new shorezone plan for Lake Tahoe. The most recent TRPA proposal would profoundly impact the beauty, serenity, and water quality of Lake Tahoe by permiting thousands of new buoys, hundreds of new piers and slips, and many new boat ramps.  Engine emissions and noise will be greatly increased without adequate protections for the Lake and those who use it.

Forest Stewardship Day 2008

On July 12th, the League will host the 11th Annual Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day, a hands-on volunteer restoration event. This year's event will be held at the site of the Angora Fire and will focus on erosion control and fuels reduction projects as well as invasive weed removal and clean-up.Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome!
