Anne Harper, Board President
Anne, who has been on the League Board of Directors for nine years, graduated from Duke University School of Law in 1991 with a J.D. and an L.L.M. (Master of Laws) in Comparative and International Law. After spending five years in private practice in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, Anne became involved with various nonprofits, including the League, and assisted the League in organizing the 1997 Presidential Forum.
In the fall of 1997, she began working with Earthjustice and by happy coincidence, helped represent the League in litigation over the use of two-stroke jetskis. She then joined the Board in 1999, served as Vice President from 2004-2005, and has been President of the Board since 2005.
She and her husband, Rick Ronald, have three children: Jackson, Cooper, and Elly. They reside in the Bay Area, but visit Lake Tahoe often, staying at Rick’s family cabin in Cascade Properties, south of Emerald Bay.

Rochelle Nason, Executive Director
Rochelle has served as Executive Director since 1993 after coming to the League as its first Staff Attorney. A 1987 graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, she previously clerked for Chief Justice Malcolm Lucas of the California Supreme Court and practiced law in the litigation department of Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco.
As Executive Director, Rochelle leads all areas of the League’s work including program and policy matters as well as finance and fundraising. She has been awarded the California Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership award and the Outstanding Environmental Achievement award of the U.S. EPA’s Region 9.
As a Co-Chair of the Tahoe Transportation and Water Quality Coalition, and a member of the Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee, Rochelle is a leader in organizing broad support for public investment in the conservation of Lake Tahoe. She has served on various community nonprofit boards of directors; her current community activities include service on the board of directors of Earth Share of California. |
