LACE UP YOUR BOOTS FOR A COOKHOUSE MEADOW TOUR!
South Lake Tahoe, CA. – A public walking tour of Cookhouse Meadow is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Cookhouse Meadow, an area in the Upper Truckee River Watershed, was once badly damaged by grazing, highway construction and flooding. Through extensive restoration efforts, the Cookhouse Meadow has been restored and is once again functioning as a healthy wetland.
The walking tour will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about the importance of wetland environments and understand how they function. The tour will be guided by a representative of the United States Forest Service.
Participants will be leaving from the League to Save Lake Tahoe at 3:30 PM sharp on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Carpooling from the League to Save Lake Tahoe is encouraged as transportation will not be provided. The League to Save Lake Tahoe is located at 955 Emerald Bay Road (near the “Y”, across from the Post Office and El Dorado Savings Bank), in South Lake Tahoe.
