TOUR OF SUNSET STABLES – POTENTIAL RESTORATION SITE

South Lake Tahoe, CA – The Upper Truckee River Watershed Stewardship Group will be joining the California Tahoe Conservancy (CTC) on a public walking tour of Sunset Stables on Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Sunset Stables is an area in the Upper Truckee River Watershed that has been damaged by development, erosion, and trail and roadway use. Together, the CTC and the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) are proposing restoration efforts in this area.

The purpose of the tour is to educate and inform the public about the Upper Truckee River, how it impacts the ecology of Lake Tahoe, and the different alternatives that exist for the future of the proposed restoration project. The tour is not a public hearing and is designed as an informational session only.  The tour will be guided by a representative of the CTC.

Participants will be meeting at the League to Save Lake Tahoe at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Carpooling from the League to Save Lake Tahoe is encouraged. The League to Save Lake Tahoe is located at 955 Emerald Bay Road (near the “Y”, across from the Tahoe Valley Post Office and El Dorado Savings Bank), in South Lake Tahoe.
