Phil Metting van Rijn
Born and raised in Napa, California, Phil Metting van Rijn spent much of his childhood exploring the beautiful countryside in his backyard along Dry Creek. After graduating from the University of California, Davis, Phil moved to San Francisco to pursue a career in software engineering. He spent 21 years living and working in the Bay Area, most recently working for Salesforce before retiring in 2015. That year, Phil and his wife Kim moved to South Lake Tahoe, where they enjoy all the amazing benefits of living in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Phil learned at an early age the importance of protecting the natural environment in which we live, and has been volunteering with the US Forest Service and the League to Save Lake Tahoe since moving to the area. He is an avid fly fisherman, and you will often find him exploring the amazing lakes and rivers in the Lake Tahoe area. Phil is committed to serving the Lake Tahoe community and protecting the precious resources that exist in this spectacular wildland-urban interface. He joined the board in 2017.
