Keep Tahoe Blue

Julie Lytle

Volunteer and Internship Experience Coordinator

Julie joins the League to Save Lake Tahoe as the Volunteer and Intern Experience Coordinator. In this dynamic role, she collaborates with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and manage the League’s volunteer and internship programs. From recruiting and onboarding to training, coordinating, and celebrating volunteers and interns, she ensures each person is supported, engaged, and empowered to make a meaningful impact. She also manages the volunteer database, gathers program feedback, leads tours, and supports volunteer coordination in the field—all to strengthen the League’s mission and community.

Originally from Sacramento, Julie spent much of her childhood visiting family in South Lake Tahoe. It was here, surrounded by the natural beauty of the region, that her love for the outdoors blossomed. In high school, she founded the “Save the Polar Bears Club” and participated in climate protests, sparking her lifelong commitment to environmental activism. After years of visiting, she eventually made Tahoe her home, drawn by the region’s stunning landscapes and the opportunity to contribute to the preservation of the area she loves.

Now living in South Lake Tahoe year-round, Julie enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. With a passion for sustainability and a dedication to making the world a better place, she is excited to be in her role at the League. She believes in the power of community and volunteers, and through her work, she is committed to fostering an inclusive, impactful volunteer program that helps protect and preserve Lake Tahoe for generations to come.
