Members of The League to Save Lake Tahoe and volunteers were picking up trash at Kings Beach and the surrounding area today.
Over 60 volunteers went to work to pick up all kinds of garbage that is left on the beach during Labor Day weekend.
One volunteer from Reno says he saw all kinds of trash over the course of a few hours.
“We found anything from as small as bottle caps, beer bottle caps to stuff as big as Barbie dolls and inflatables and t-shirts and clothing. We saw it all, but it is a little bit cleaner than I think it was in previous years,” said Nick Magri, a volunteer.
Volunteers were given gear and had the chance to not only cleanup the beach, but also the area around Kings Beach.
Participants kept track of the items they found, and they were able to weigh the amount of trash gathered at the end.
