With Memorial Day weekend fast approaching, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) has agreed to begin a phase-in approach to allow boats with “Tahoe Only” stickers and seals back on the water.
Aside from the pandemic that still has the region closed to tourists, the lake faces a huge threat from invasive aquatic species if boating on the lake is immediately opened to all.
“If you have an intact inspection seal, then you’ll be able to launch during the first phase of the program,” said Jeff Cowan with TRPA. “Then later on, we’ll be able to invite boats from outside of the region that are traveling and visiting.”
