Revised environmental report out for controversial Palisades Tahoe development

The revised report for the Village at Palisades Tahoe was made after a court decision that caused Placer County to rescind its project approvals.

A controversial resort development at Lake Tahoe is back in the spotlight one year after an appellate court ordered county officials to take another look at its potential environmental impact.

Placer County released its revised environmental impact report, or EIR, for public review on Aug. 9 for the Village at Palisades Tahoe project.

The revised report is the next step for the Village at Palisades Tahoe, which has been mired in litigation for years.

Timeline for the Village at Palisades Tahoe project

At the center of the dispute are plans to redevelop the former Squaw Valley ski resort. The resort, which was renamed to Palisades Tahoe, was acquired in 2011 by KSL Capital Partners, the parent company of developer Alterra Mountain Company.
