Each summer since 1997, the Lake Tahoe Summit has brought together local, state and federal leaders for the common cause of protecting Big Blue. In the time since, “Team Tahoe” has made much progress toward that shared goal. That includes securing $2.7 billion to complete 766 projects that have improved Lake Tahoe’s unique environment, benefited its local economy, and safeguarded its future.
Every bit of success is worth celebrating, particularly because the Tahoe Basin is a jigsaw puzzle of jurisdictions and property owners. When you add agencies, businesses and nonprofits to the cast of characters, the result is a mixed bag of sometimes aligned, but often competing interests.
