Volunteers invited to celebrate Labor Day at Lake Tahoe cleanup event

League to Save Lake Tahoe
August 27, 2024

10th annual event will wrap up summer and help Keep Tahoe Blue

LAKE TAHOE, Nev./Cal., August 27, 2024 – Finish summer on a high note by taking part in the League to Save Lake Tahoe’s 10th annual Labor Day Cleanup at Kings Beach State Recreation Area, 8:30 – 11:30 am on Monday, September 2.

The Lake has been good to you all summer, now is your opportunity to say thanks with a few hours of hands-on beach area beautification. Join dozens of local and visiting volunteers to remove litter, refresh and revitalize the shoreline, and leave nearby parking, business and neighborhood areas clean.

The League is grateful for our partners at California State Parks, along with EpicPromise, whose generous grant helps support this cleanup event and the League’s efforts to fight litter in Tahoe.

WHEN:
8:30 – 11:30 am | Monday, September 2 (Labor Day)

WHERE:
Kings Beach State Recreation Area | Raccoon St, Kings Beach, CA 96143 (map)

WHO:
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. No prior experience is required.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Register in advance at keeptahoeblue.org/laborday.

WHAT:
Volunteers will clean the beach and surrounding area to celebrate Labor Day and mark the end of summer, then they will be treated to a raffle. The public is encouraged to join.

WHY:
Removing trash from Tahoe’s sensitive environment protects the Lake, and so does collecting data about the litter found. The League’s policy professionals use that data to lobby for litter prevention solutions, like banning plastic bags, Styrofoam, and single-use plastic water bottles. Learn more about our science to solutions approach at keeptahoeblue.org/litter.

MORE EVENTS COMING SOON:
Check keeptahoeblue.org/events for additional volunteer opportunities in September, including the Great Sierra River Cleanup on September 21 and Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day on September 28.
