Darcie Goodman Collins, PhD is responsible for mobilizing the League’s expert staff and network of volunteers to carry out its mission – to Keep Tahoe Blue for all. As chief executive officer, she oversees all aspects of the organization’s management, leadership, and strategy, while ensuring its work is grounded in the best available science. Darcie serves as an ambassador for Tahoe in Sacramento, Carson City, and in Washington, D.C. where she advocates for the support needed to conserve the Lake’s environment and uplift its communities.

Beyond the Lake Tahoe Basin, she serves in leadership roles with groups working to advance the pace and scale of environmental projects across the country and around the world. The California Landscape Stewardship Network is a unique collaborative of conservation organizations working with state officials to remove bureaucratic roadblocks to ecosystem restoration. Global Landscape Stewards is an initiative that brings together conservation practitioners worldwide to share models for success and lessons learned in vastly different settings.

Darcie earned her doctorate at the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Prior to joining the League, she served as Habitat Restoration Director for Save the Bay and provided research support for the University of California, Davis and the University of California, Santa Barbara, monitoring lake and stream chemistry and ecology.

Born and raised in South Lake Tahoe, Dr. Goodman Collins first became involved with the League as a summer intern in 1996. In 1997, she was the Tahoe community’s youth representative at the first Tahoe Presidential Summit. Darcie serves on the Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee, is past board president of the Tahoe-Baikal Institute, and is a former board member of the League, Tahoe Transportation District, Tahoe’s South Shore Transportation Management Association, and Tahoe Prosperity Center.

An avid outdoor enthusiast, Darcie runs marathons, enjoys ski touring, and swims in the Lake most months of the year – even the very cold ones.

Darcie joined the League staff in 2012.
