Deirdre Francks
As the League’s Science and Data Coordinator, Deirdre applies best practices in data collection, management, and analysis to support key programs aimed at protecting Lake Tahoe. She utilizes tools like the R programming language and ArcGIS to generate reports, visualizations, and maps that inform the League’s science-to-solutions approach.
Deirdre brings both environmental and technical expertise to her role at the League. While studying environmental science at Stanford University, she developed a data science skill set that she applied to a wide range of research projects, from analyzing global aquaculture developments to developing climate policy briefs for state legislature candidates. During her undergraduate summers, Deirdre worked as an environmental educator in the Tahoe basin. Most recently, Deirdre worked as a Data Science Educator with Posit PBC (formerly RStudio), where she helped develop a data science learning platform to promote reproducible research techniques in both public and private industry.
Outside of work, Deirdre spends her time keeping up with friends as they explore the Tahoe Basin by bike, on foot, or by skis.
